Mathematics
BMS Educational trust with the great vision and mission of late Sri. B M Srinivasaiah and Sri. B S Narayan started BMS College for Women in the year 1964 to empower women with education. In the same year, the Department of Mathematics was established with PCM . combination with Prof. M J Narayana Iyengar (1964-1968) as HOD and wings were further opened to cater Mathematics to PME and PMCs along with PCM students. The department is successful in motivating students to take up Mathematics at Post-Graduate Level. Also, many students are pursuing further complete PhD and thus have brought laurels to the department. Students with mathematics background have been placed in IT industries, business sectors, research fields and teaching careers. The department also has produced rank holders at university level. To add a feather to the crown, Post Graduate Course in Mathematics was started in the year 2015. The department has full-fledged, highly qualified, dedicated teachers.
At present, , Vijayalakshmi U Shanbhag, Assistant professor and Ranjitha S, Assistant professor are the faculty members of the department. All this is possible due to the strong managerial support and effort of the BMSET headed by Donor Trustee, Chairperson, Dr. Ragini Narayan and Principal, Dr. Vasundhara D E . With whose guidance the department of Mathematics galloping further to impart its knowledge, skill and wisdom to the women kind. The department commits itself to impart quality education by fostering a close relationship between faculty and students in pursuit of common goals and to empower students to face the present challenges in the area of Mathematics. Mentoring, material support, collegial interactions, periodic assessments, evaluation and updating of its curricular programs and facilities ensure the enhancement of research and teaching. The department aims to inculcate Mathematics knowledge to increase the employability and make the students industry ready.
